Mission Statement
The Mt. Vernon Fire and Rescue will provide fire protection and suppression to the
Central Rockcastle community to the level of training, which has been received by
its members, and with the equipment provided.
And provide a Fire Prevention program to the extent that is practical and to the best
of our ability.
Will provide basic assistance and or a Rescue program comparable to the training
and ability of the members. And to the extent that the equipment provided allows.
To assist the community in manner required to the extent practical and feasible
within the Fire Department Standard Operational guidelines.
To assist neighboring Fire Departments that have written agreements, with mutual
aid to the extent that the community protected by this Fire Department is not left in
danger.
To obtain the latest in training techniques and Firefighting techniques to the best of
our ability and within budgetary and practical allowances.
To be financially responsible with the community’s money provided and the
equipment owned by this Fire Department.
To maintain a Fire Department that this community can be proud of and to strive to
bring no dishonor upon the Fire Department or the Community served.
History
The Mount Vernon Fire Department has been serving the citizens of Mount Vernon, and Rockcastle County since September 1, 1937. We provide Fire and Rescue to the citizens of Mount Vernon as well as parts of Rockcastle County, and Interstate 75 from the 50 mile marker to the 73 mile marker.
